The region boasts 300 days of sunshine per year and is a wonderful area for walking, cycling and skiing.
Les Lussettes is a small hamlet comprising about 20 or so stone-built farmhouses, a few newer holiday homes and a church. Nestling in the hills at 1100m altitude, it lies just below the treeline towards the top of the Buech Valley.

Built in the early 1800's, the original layout would have been to keep the farm animals and machinery downstairs, while the family lived upstairs in the warmer area under the roof. This house also features a small stone, wood-fired bread oven, which we have yet to make use of.

Situated in the Southern Alps about 40 miles South of Grenoble, the hamlet is actually in La Drome region, though within 5 miles are the borders of Isere to the North, and Hautes-Alpes to the South and East. Aound 5 miles away is the village of Lus-La-Croix-Haute, with a small supermarket, butcher, baker, tourist office and other facilities.

The valley is part of the Parc Naturel du Vercors and the flora and fauna found here reflect the unique combination of the Alpine and Provencal weather systems. Winter temperatures frequently dip below -20 degrees, and summer temperatures into the high 30'.

Species common to the region include marmottes, chamois and other deer, eagles and vultures.
